About the Artist - Andrea Steinbauer

Artist Statement

"As a classical trained artist, it is my ambition to use traditional, academic concepts of composition, values and color harmony to tell a story in my work of art.

Thereby I try to paint from life as much as possible and work freehand to transfer my imagination directly and original on my canvas, panel or paper."

Bio

Andrea Steinbauer is a German realist artist with her atelier based in Munich (Germany). She works full time as a commission portrait painter and figurative artist since 2008 and gives lectures about the foundations of traditional fine art painting.

Andrea received a classical art education at Atelier Felicitas Meißer, studied on the ‘Master of Fine Art’ program at San Francisco’s Academy of Art University (California/US) and had the chance to learn from masters like Ted Seth Jacobs, David Leffel or Max Ginsburg.

Based on her academic training, Andrea’s artwork is dedicated to traditional concepts combined with the influence of the contemporary life. Her artwork can be found in private collections internationally and was exhibited in Europe and the United States.

Andrea’s work was also recognized in several international art contests; like the Portrait Society’s “Members Only Competition” (Finalist 2025), the Art Renewal Center’s 17th and 18th ARC Salon (Semi-Fimalist), awarded with the Art Show International Talent Award, an Honorable Mentioned Award in the “Figurative 2023” competition, or the Faces 2023 Silver Award.

Since September 2023, Andrea supports the Portrait Society of America (PSoA), in creating a greater awareness of traditional fine art portraiture and figurative art, by volunteering as the PSoA Ambassador to Europe/UK and is a member of the Literature Committee since 2025.

In December 2025 the International Artist Magazine published Andrea’s demo about painting a self portrait from life in their issue 166.
